This report reflects disks received between August 1995 through April 1996. It is no longer being updated due to time constraints. Sorry! A new report may begin in 1997.
Seven disks came in April, although they are being counted as nine because one was a CD-ROM with Net magazine that contained software for three providers: AOL/GNN, Earthlink and Prodigy. Overall, 60 disks have been received since the report began.

America Online and CompuServe both kept their number 1 and 2 overall spots.

NOTE: Others are Earthlink and Concentric.
3.5" disks stayed above 80% of total disksreceived.

Direct Mail dropped again as a source of online disks, from 29% to 28%. Interestly, two direct mail "postcards" arrived in April, one from CompuServe/SpryNet and another from Concentric. Both list a phone number to call to order diskettes. Previously, only one of these type of postcards had ever been received. Does two in one month mean a trend is developing away from sending diskettes that are mostly wasted?

AOL comes close to breaking its monthly record while CompuServe is nowhere to be seen in April.

A disk (or two) a week keeps the doctor away:
